If a fisherman is found with a Garibaldi, the fine is $500. So, if caught, a Garibaldi should immediately be released back into the ocean. Because of this, Garibaldi is in abundance on Santa Catalina Island and if you are looking into the water on Santa Catalina Island, you are likely to see many Garibaldi at any time of day.
