Santa Catalina Island Hospital
Avalon has a hospital called the Avalon
Municipal Hospital. It is operated by Avalon Medical
Development Corporation. The hospital is not equipped to
deliver babies. If any expected mothers
are within 2 weeks of expected delivery date, they are
highly encouraged to get off Santa Catalina Island to the
mainland Southern California to await delivery.
If they don't, they will lifeflighted to a hospital in
Long Beach to deliver during labor. That costs about $8,000.
So, the residents of Santa Catalina Island try not to get too
sick or too pregnant.

There are two schools on Santa Catalina
Island. The main school on Santa Catalina Island is a K through

adjacent to the Santa Catalina Island country club. The other
