Santa Catalina Island Fish
Santa Catalina Island is at a 45 degree
angle to the ocean which makes it easy for fish to come near
land. When walking around Santa Catalina Island, it is not
surprising to see sea animals on land as well as in water.

Garibaldi

Garibaldi or Hypsypops rubicundus range in
size from small to 14 inches in length. On Santa Catalina
Island, Garibaldi is not allowed to be caught. If a fisherman
is found with a Garibaldi, the fine is $500. So, if caught, a
Garibaldi should immediately be released back into the ocean.
Because of this, Garibaldi is in abundance on Santa Catalina

Island, you are likely to see many Garibaldi at any time of
day.
