Question: Room rentals in Catalina??? Boyfriend is 20 and I’m 19. Law is 21+ to rent.?

We just need a place to rest and shower and change before dinner and whatnot… but the law on the island is 21+ to rent rooms. Does anyone know where we could rent a room for the day?

Answer: Where did you hear the law says 21 to rent? Age of consent (ability to create a contract and to vote is 18 in CA). I cannot imagine that Catalina is exempt from CA or Federal Fair Housing Law. It is not a completely private Island; the schools there are Long Beach Unified School District.
Sounds like housing discrimination to me. Your money is as good as mine (age 54). The worst a motel could do is demand a credit card or a cash deposit.
