Catalina Island Tours

Question: we are going on a cruise for the first time its in the Caribbean p&o excursions are too dear any ideas,thanks?
the islands are barbados, st marten, catalina, tortola, antigua, st kitts, dominica, st lucia, st vincent, grenada.
We would like to do the tours independantly not with p&o because we find them very expensive, has anybody done this if so would you be able to pass tips onto us.thank you gill & tony
Answer: Be careful, many of the islands are crime ridden off the tourist beaten path. The best thing to do is contact the embassy of each, and let them suggest a driver for you. At least they will know where you are at all times. In addition, go on line and looked at the more public places that have good security and areas that are not too far from the ship. Taxis can get complicated at night. In addition, go to one of the ships or yachts that are park and asked them if they are Brits or Americans where is the coolest places to go. Or better yet, contact some of the Yachting places on each island before you get there and get this information.
